Scott Peters

Bio and Artist Statement

Man has always had the urge to participate in creative activities. “We have been given the opportunity to mirror His creative activity through the arts.” For Scott Peters, landscape photography in absolute and abstract form is an important medium that allows the artist to capture and share his vision of what was created.

Scott has been working in photography for more than 25 years, learning both black and white and early color darkroom techniques from his father, to which he owes much of his passion for photography and wet darkroom processes. In early 2000, he began his journey into fine art photography with large format cameras and in 2006 started in the ultra large format arena with a 7 x 17 camera. His talents have earned him both commissioned work as well as successful juried exhibitions.

He was commissioned recently for work on the prestigious Indigo Hotel located in Scottsdale, Arizona where one of his images was also selected for a permanent display of the largest photograph in Arizona, a 32 foot by 30 foot mural which resides on the outside of the hotel entrance.

Scott is also a member of IMAGEWORKS, a society for the advancement of large format photography, which consists of a select group of large format photographers in the Southwest.

Scott lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Heidi and three children, Brandon, Katrina and Brittney.

Guide to Images for Sale

Scott's 7 x 17" and 8 x 10" contact prints are made using the highest-quality materials available, primarily silver chloride paper (Azo). Each print is contact printed using in-camera negatives developed by hand using pyro developers which offer the finest in tonality and detail. Each photograph is hand printed in a traditional wet darkroom and will exhibit slight variations due to the nature of the print process.

All prints are dry-mounted onto museum archival mat board and then over-matted with a matching archival window mat.

8 x 10" prints are over-matted and mounted to 16 x 18", and 7 x 17's are mounted and over-matted to 12 x 24".
